April 28 2016 Car Accident in Long Beach CA Ends Tragically

On the afternoon of April 28, a unidentified female motorist involved in a two-car collision in the 7500 block of Spring Street close to El Dorado Park was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident resulted in the closure of the southbound San Gabriel River (605) freeway off ramp for several hours.

A spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department, Sgt. James Richardson, noted that the woman’s name was being withheld in order to first notify family members of her death.

Richardson indicated that Long Beach police arrived on the scene at 4:36 p.m. and found the woman suffering from injuries that were described as life-threatening. Prior to the arrival of personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department, life-saving attempts were made but ultimately proved to be futile.

Three occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries in the accident, though no information was available on whether any further treatment was required.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
