Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Visalia CA – May 2019
It’s that time of year again.
It was this same time of year a few years ago when I learned that my father was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident. I’ll never forget the cop telling me that it happens to all of them.
May 2019 – One Thursday morning, a 21yr old young man was killed on his motorcycle, probably by someone taking a left turn.
There are no winners here. This happens several times a day all over the USA. The driver who took the left is going to be devastated. The guy who hit the driver is … dead.
According to the Fresno Bee, the driver “allegedly violated the motorcycle’s right of way during her left turn. The CHP reported the motorcycle driver, a 21-year-old man, tried to avoid the pickup before he crashed.”
Look Twice. Save a Life.
Look Twice Save a Life is a foundation with a great slogan which is actually meaningful. Drivers need to look twice to see motorcycles. Bikes have very small profiles and many people glancing left and then right before crossing into traffic totally miss the bike coming. It’s a risk of riding.
Once presented with a vehicle in their path, bikers have no good options. Often they can’t avoid the sudden obstacle so they’re forced to lay their bike down or T-Bone the 4000lb automobile. Riders are often ejected after impact, and that usually results in serious injuries or fatalities.
After the crash
Adding insult to injury, many insurers attempt to blame bikers for their crash. Indeed, sometimes bikers are moving to fast or doing something wrong, however, this should not result in a lack of compensation for their injuries. According to Maison Law in Visalia, left turn accidents cause between 55 and 66 percent of all motorcycle accidents involving two vehicles. It may make sense to speak to an attorney after any major injury or fatality. Afterall, the calls are free and there are a lot of them out there.
