Hollywood Wrong-Way Crash Results in One Fatality

Early Thursday, October 8, 2020, a wrong-way crash in Hollywood has resulted in one fatality and has left one more individual severely injured.

Around 1 a.m. on Thursday, a driver was heading south in the northbound lanes on the 101 Freeway at Hollywood Boulevard. According to CBS Los Angeles and the California Highway Patrol, the driver’s 2008 BMW crashed into another vehicle, trapping him and causing him to die at the scene. His body was retrieved by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Authorities identified the driver on Friday as 24-year-old Jordan Del Carmen.

The other driver in the incident, identified as Clayton Chiapuzio, 33, was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated for “major injuries.”

After the initial crash, two more vehicles were involved in a “chain reaction” crash, but both drivers are uninjured.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. Anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact the CHP Central Los Angeles Area office.
