36-Year-Old Woman Killed, Another Injured in Fatal Hit-and-Run; Driver Still At Large
LOS ANGELES (March 14, 2023) – The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Sunday night in Pico Rivera is still at large, according to reports from The Pasadena Star-News and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Michael Chen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the newspaper that the accident occurred after 11:15 p.m. on Sunday at Rooks Road and Rose Hills Road. He said three adult females were walking southbound on the curb of Rooks Road approaching Rose Hills Road when two of them were struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Rooks Road.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, according to witnesses, and continued southbound on Rooks Road. A 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The third woman was not injured.
Driver Sought in Fatal Pico Rivera Hit-and-Run
KTLA reports that authorities are still hunting for the unknown driver who plowed into the two women on Sunday night and then fled the scene, leaving one dead and another seriously injured. As of Tuesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials still had no solid leads in the case, as the surviving women could not provide a description of the vehicle.
Shortly after the accident, Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the scene and provided life-saving measures, but one of the women died due to the horrific crash. The Los Angeles County Coroner identified her as a 36-year-old Los Angeles resident.
