4 Vehicle Collision on Pacific Coast Highway Sends 4 to Hospital – April 1 2018
Officials continue to investigate an accident that occurred at approximately 7:38 PM on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. This accident that happened near Newland Street sent four people to the hospital. Two of them were released while two were admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police officer Angela Bennett of the Huntington Police Department believes that the four-vehicle accident was caused by the driver or a Hyundai Sonata. The driver first attempted to flee the scene by heading towards the beach before being apprehended and taken to the hospital. Police at the scene say they do not know why the driver was trying to evade them.
The city has announced that they have been approved for a $150,000 grant to improve driving conditions on the highway along with better enforcement of existing traffic laws. The grant is from the California Office of Traffic Safety through funding received through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
