Fresno Pedestrian Fatality Rate Prompts Roadway Study

From local sporting events to public arts shows, the city Fresno is filled with outdoor activities drawing high pedestrian traffic. Unfortunately, the streets of Fresno have proven to be dangerous and often deadly to Fresno pedestrians.

In fact, according to a 2018 report, 64% of all fatal crashes in Fresno involved both a pedestrian and an automobile. In an effort to raise awareness and reduce the pedestrian fatality rate, Maison Law published a pedestrian accident study to chart the most dangerous streets and intersections for pedestrians in the Fresno area.

There were a staggering number of fatalities along RT 99. Between 2011-2015 there were 62 fatal incidents per 100 miles, classifying RT 99 as one of the most dangerous roads in the United States.

Using data compiled by OptimizeMyFirm, the Maison Law pedestrian fatality study provides additional information pertaining to the most dangerous intersections in Fresno. Maison Law also provides some practical safety tips for pedestrians traveling along these roadways.
