How I Spend Valentine’s Day in San Marcos, CA

Ok, I am going a little off topic today. But I have relatives in the Escondido area and visit frequently. It’s only 90min down the 5 – I sometimes spend that much time going to work it seems, lol.

How I Spend Valentine’s Day in San Marcos, CA

The crazy hustle and bustle of the holiday season is over, and the new year has very much begun. Valentine’s Day comes with perfect timing and brings that deep breath of sigh and relief to my sweetheart and I. For us, Valentine’s Day is a time to relax, reenergize and reconnect with each other after months of running back and forth trying to please everybody but ourselves. In San Marcos, California we can do just that.

We will make our Valentine’s Day an entire day affair rather than limiting ourselves to a squeezed in dinner with flowers and candlelight. To start the day off right, we will dine at the always delicious Broken Yolk Cafe. Here we are sure to find something that will tickle our tastebuds so early in the morning from the standard two eggs made to order to rich eggs benedict to a mile high serving of stuffed french toast. Finish that off with a little Mimosa or messy caramel latte and our Valentine’s Day is off to the perfect start.

Our next stop on the Valentine’s tour is to get a couple massage at Massage Green Spa of San Marcos. We can further relax, unwind and enjoy each other’s company while enjoying side-by-side treatments of a Swedish massage, hot stone massage or many others.

To even further extend our relaxation, we will spend much of the afternoon visiting some of the San Marcos area’s unique breweries. The Rip Current Brewery, Dos Desperados Brewery and the Kuracali Sake & Beer Brewery are the must hits in the area. These locations serve up bold and one of a kind flavors from a Orange Honey Cream Ale at the Rip Current Brewery to a Sour Cherry Sake and Nakhon White Ale at Kuracali Sake & Beer Brewery. We may spend a little extra time at Dos Desperados so I can satisfy my sweet tooth with their special chocolate and craft beer pairing for Valentine’s Day. Between the uncommonly flavored beers and extraordinarily infused chocolates, we are sure to have a tasty experience.

We cannot finish off our Valentine’s Day without going to a deliciously romantic restaurant before heading home. The beautiful and elegant Dockside Decoy restaurant is the perfect location for our finale. We can enjoy everything from a rich buttermilk fried quail to a tasty Maine lobster tagliatelle to a juicy prime beef tenderloin. Add to the meal a great cocktail or glass of wine and we could not have a better feast. Finish the main course off with a delectable dessert or two to share, and this Valentine’s Day has been absolute perfection.
